A decanter can air-dry, but its narrow neck slows evaporation. Good drainage and ventilation help prevent lingering moisture.
Drain and ventilate
- Clean and rinse according to the decanter manufacturer’s directions. Let excess water drain without resting fragile glass on an unstable surface.
- Set it securely on a suitable drying stand or in a position that permits air circulation. Keep the opening unobstructed; do not replace the stopper while the inside is damp.
- If needed, use a clean, lint-free absorbent strip designed so it can be retrieved easily. Never force tools into delicate glass or leave loose paper inside.
Water spots and fragile finishes
Persistent cloudiness may be mineral residue rather than trapped condensation. Use only a cleaner appropriate for the glass and any decoration. Do not use boiling water or sudden temperature changes on glassware unless the manufacturer permits them.
