A clean sheet of food-contact paper can form a temporary funnel for dry ingredients. Ordinary mailing envelopes are not intended for this job.
Make a simple cone
- Use clean baking parchment or another paper explicitly suitable for food contact. Roll it into a cone.
- Adjust the opening to the ingredient and jar neck. Keep any tape or fastening outside the food path.
- Hold the cone securely above the jar and pour slowly in small amounts. Use a wider funnel for larger ingredients.
- Discard the paper after use. A washable food-safe funnel is better for regular use.
Avoid unsuitable materials
Do not use mailing envelopes, printed paper, reused packaging, or paper with unknown glue or coatings. A paper cone is for dry ingredients, not hot liquids or oily mixtures.
