Procedure

  1. Prepare the Chicken and Sauce Base: Add cubed chicken to your slow cooker along with soy sauce, mirin, chili crisp, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Stir to combine.
  2. Cook in Slow Cooker: Cover and cook on High for 3–4 hours or Low for 4–5 hours until the chicken is tender.
  3. Remove and Reduce Liquid: Once cooked, carefully remove the liquid from the slow cooker and pour it into a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then let simmer for about 20 minutes to reduce and concentrate the flavors.
  4. Prepare the Orange Sauce: In a bowl, combine orange marmalade, additional chili crisp, seasoned rice vinegar, honey, and ginger. Stir well and set aside.
  5. Thicken the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to create a slurry.Add the slurry to the saucepan with the reduced liquid, stirring continuously for about 30 seconds over medium heat until it thickens. Once thickened, stir in the orange sauce mixture.
  6. Combine with Chicken: Pour the thickened orange sauce back over the chicken in the slow cooker, stirring to coat evenly. Adjust salt to taste if needed.
  7. Serve over Rice: Prepare rice according to package instructions. Divide the cooked rice and orange chicken mixture evenly into 10 servings.
  8. Garnish: Sprinkle chopped green onions and sesame seeds (white and black if available) on top of each serving.
