This refreshing iced tea is perfect for summer gatherings. It uses canned peaches for convenience, blended into a smooth purée and mixed with brewed black tea for a fruity, sweet, and satisfying drink. Simple, quick, and perfect over ice.
Ingredients
- 2 (15-ounce) cans sliced peaches in heavy syrup or juice
- 8 cups water, divided
- 6 black tea bags (or 3 Tablespoons loose black tea)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (optional, adjust to taste)
- 1 Tablespoon lemon juice (optional, adds brightness)
- Ice, for serving
- Fresh mint, lemon wedges, or peach slices for garnish (optional)
Preparation
- Blend the peaches: Drain one can of peaches (reserve the syrup), and place the fruit in a blender. Add the other full can (with syrup). Blend until smooth.
- Make the tea: Bring 6 cups of water to a boil. Remove from heat, add the tea bags, and steep for 6–8 minutes. Discard the tea bags and let the tea cool to room temperature.
- Sweeten the tea: While still warm, stir the sugar (if using) into the tea until dissolved. Add the reserved syrup from the first can for added peach flavor and sweetness.
- Combine and chill: In a large pitcher, combine the brewed tea, peach purée, remaining 2 cups of cold water, and lemon juice (if using). Stir well. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed. Refrigerate until thoroughly chilled, at least 2 hours.
- Serve: Pour over ice and garnish with fresh mint, lemon wedges, or a peach slice. Stir before serving if the purée has settled.
