Carter Family Recipes

These brownies are unapologetically rich, dense, and chocolate-forward — the kind that make people stop mid-bite and ask what you did differently. The secret is starting with Ghirardelli Supreme Brownie Mix (the one with the chocolate syrup packet) and pushing it further with layers of white, milk, and bittersweet chocolate. A deliberate pinch of kosher salt keeps the sweetness in check and sharpens the cocoa flavor. The result is a crackly top, a fudgy center, and pockets of melted chocolate throughout — engineered indulgence at its finest.

Ingredients

  • 2 boxes Ghirardelli Supreme Brownie Mix (the version with the included chocolate syrup packet)
  • Ingredients listed on the box (eggs, oil, water)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup bittersweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup Heath toffee chips (optional)
  • Healthy pinch of kosher salt

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to the temperature specified on the brownie mix boxes (typically 325°F). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. In a large bowl, prepare both brownie mixes according to the box directions, including the chocolate syrup packets, eggs, oil, and water. Stir until fully combined, then mix in the vanilla extract.
  3. Fold in the white chocolate chips, milk chocolate chips, and bittersweet chocolate chips until evenly distributed. If using Heath toffee chips, add them now. Sprinkle in a healthy pinch of kosher salt to balance the sweetness and deepen the chocolate flavor.
  4. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan. Bake according to the box instructions, checking at the minimum recommended time. The brownies are done when the top is glossy and set, and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  5. Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan before slicing. For cleaner cuts, chill briefly and wipe the knife between slices.
