This comforting Dinner Pie is inspired by a family-style dish often associated with Jackie Kennedy’s preference for simple, unfussy American meals at home. More casserole than pie in the traditional sense, it layers a savory ground beef filling with sweet corn and barbecue sauce, then finishes with creamy mashed potatoes enriched with cream cheese and butter. It’s hearty, practical, and quietly elegant — the kind of meal meant to feed people well rather than impress them.
This dish reflects discipline and efficiency in the kitchen: straightforward ingredients, minimal fuss, and satisfying results. It’s comfort food with purpose.
