A rich, Texas-inspired dessert that captures the unmistakable flavor of Dr Pepper in a creamy cheesecake filling nestled inside a buttery pecan shortbread cookie crust. Reducing the soda into a concentrated syrup intensifies its signature notes of cherry, vanilla, caramel, citrus, and spice, while a touch of orange zest brightens the filling. Finished with freshly whipped cream, toasted pecans, bourbon cherries, and a light drizzle of salted caramel, this pie delivers all the nostalgia of a Dr Pepper float in an elegant, crowd-pleasing form.

Preparation
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
2. In a medium bowl, combine the crushed pecan shortbread cookies, toasted pecans, and salt.
3. Stir in the melted butter until the mixture is evenly moistened.
4. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie plate.

6. Remove from the oven and cool completely.
7. Pour the Dr Pepper into a medium saucepan and bring to a gentle boil over medium heat.
8. Reduce the heat and simmer until the soda has reduced to approximately 3/4 cup and has a syrup-like consistency, about 25–35 minutes.
9. Remove from the heat and cool completely.
10. In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth and creamy.
11. Add the sweetened condensed milk and beat until fully incorporated.
12. Mix in the cooled Dr Pepper reduction, eggs, vanilla extract, orange zest, and salt until smooth.

14. Bake for 28–32 minutes, or until the center is just set and still has a slight wobble.
15. Cool to room temperature.
16. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
17. Just before serving, whip the cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until soft peaks form.
18. Spread or pipe the whipped cream over the pie.
19. Garnish with toasted pecan halves, bourbon cherries, chopped pecans, and a light drizzle of salted caramel sauce.
Cook’s Notes
• The Dr Pepper reduction is the heart of this recipe. Reducing the soda concentrates the flavor and prevents it from disappearing into the filling.
• Allow the reduction to cool completely before mixing it into the cheesecake batter.
• Toast the pecans before adding them to the crust and garnish for the best flavor.
• The orange zest brightens the filling and subtly reinforces the citrus notes already present in Dr Pepper.
• For the cleanest slices, refrigerate the pie overnight before serving.
• Warm the salted caramel slightly before drizzling for a more elegant presentation.
• For an adults-only variation, stir 1 tablespoon bourbon into the cooled Dr Pepper reduction before adding it to the filling.
• Butter pecan shortbread cookies work exceptionally well in this recipe and further enhance the Texas-inspired flavor profile.
