Ingredients
- 3 – 5 ounces cooked salmon (you could use canned salmon)
- juice of 1 medium lemon
- 4 teaspoons capers
- 3 ounces whipped cream cheese
- Shred salmon and put it into a small bowl.
- Add the whipped cream cheese, capers and lemon juice. Season with salt and pepper, if desired. Stir with a fork to combine.
- Spread onto a toasted bagel or whole wheat toast. Top with tomato slices, if desired. Makes up to three sandwiches.
Procedure
Optional Za’atar Variation
Stir 1/2 teaspoon za’atar into the salmon mixture with the cream cheese, capers, and lemon juice. After spreading it over the toasted bread or bagel, add the tomato slices and finish with a small additional pinch of za’atar. The blend adds gentle herbal flavor, tangy sumac, and sesame without overwhelming the salmon and lemon.
