Carter Family Recipes

A frosty, fruit-forward refresher made with frozen strawberries and tart limeade—perfect for beating the heat.

Ingredients

  • 1 (12-ounce) can frozen limeade concentrate, thawed
  • 2 cups frozen strawberries
  • 3 to 4 cups cold water
  • 1 Tablespoon fresh lime juice (optional, for extra tartness)
  • 1 teaspoon strawberry extract (optional)
  • 1 to 2 Tablespoons honey or simple syrup (optional, adjust to taste)
  • Ice (optional, for extra chill or slushier texture)
  • Lime wedges and strawberry slices, for garnish
  • Mint sprigs, optional

Preparation

  1. In a blender, combine the frozen strawberries and 2 cups of the water. Blend until smooth.
  2. Add the thawed limeade concentrate, lime juice, strawberry extract, and additional 1 to 2 cups of water depending on your preferred strength and consistency.
  3. Blend again until fully combined.
  4. Taste and adjust sweetness with honey or simple syrup if needed.
  5. Serve immediately over ice, or refrigerate until chilled. Garnish with lime wedges, strawberry slices, and a sprig of mint if desired.

Optional Variation

For a frozen slushie version, reduce the added water slightly and blend with 1 cup of ice cubes until thick and icy.
