Strawberry Fire-Kissed Spread is sweet, spicy, and just a little dangerous. Ripe strawberries bring jammy sweetness, while Jalapeño or Fresno chiles add a slow-building heat that lingers without overpowering. Lemon juice and apple cider vinegar sharpen the fruit, keeping the spread bright and balanced. It’s sticky magic in a jar — perfect for cheese boards, grilled meats, biscuits, or anywhere you want sweet heat to show off.
3 cups diced strawberries (fresh or frozen, thawed and drained).
Ingredients
- 3 cups diced strawberries (fresh or frozen, thawed and drained)
- 1–2 Jalapeños or Fresno chiles, finely minced (remove seeds for mild, leave some for heat)
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 2 Tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 Tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 Tablespoon fruit pectin (optional, for a thicker spread)
Preparation
- Prepare the Ingredients: Hull and dice the strawberries if using fresh. If using frozen, thaw completely and drain off excess liquid. Finely mince the chiles, adjusting the amount based on your heat tolerance.
- Cook the Base: In a saucepan over medium heat, combine strawberries, chiles, sugar, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, and salt. Stir frequently until the mixture comes to a gentle boil.
- Simmer and Thicken: Reduce heat to low and simmer for 20–25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture reduces and thickens. If using pectin, stir it in during the final 5 minutes of cooking.
- Blend (Optional): For a smoother texture, use an immersion blender directly in the pot or pulse briefly in a blender, leaving a little texture if desired.
- Cool and Store: Allow the spread to cool slightly, then transfer to clean glass jars. Refrigerate for up to 2 weeks, or process using a hot water bath for long-term storage.
