Soft, cheesy, and savory, these garlic cheddar biscuits are quick to make and brushed with a flavorful garlic butter as soon as they come out of the oven. They’re the perfect side for soups, salads, or hearty mains, and make an irresistible snack straight from the baking sheet.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all‑purpose flour biscuit blend (or unbleached all‑purpose flour plus 1 Tablespoon baking powder)
- 3/4 to 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 cup heavy cream (add more if needed)
- 2 Tablespoon butter, melted (for garlic butter)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder (for garlic butter)
- 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
Preparation
1. Preheat oven to 425°F and place a rack in the upper third. Lightly grease a baking sheet or line with parchment. 2. In a medium bowl, combine flour, grated cheese, and garlic powder. 3. Add heavy cream and stir with a flexible spatula until a compact, slightly sticky dough forms. If it seems dry or crumbly, add more cream 1 teaspoon at a time. 4. Using a 1/4‑cup scoop or measuring cup, drop six mounds of dough onto the prepared baking sheet. 5. Bake 15–19 minutes until the tops are golden brown. 6. While the biscuits bake, combine melted butter, garlic powder, dried parsley, and salt in a small bowl to make the garlic butter. 7. Remove the biscuits from the oven and immediately brush them all over with the garlic butter. Let cool about 10 minutes before serving warm.
Cook’s Notes
- Use the full cup of cheese for extra cheesy biscuits.
- Heavy cream yields rich, tender biscuits; substitute buttermilk if preferred.
- Serve warm with soups, stews, or on a holiday platter.
