This easy skillet naan is soft, tender, and lightly chewy, made with simple pantry ingredients and cooked right on the stovetop. Using all-purpose flour gives it a classic naan texture that pairs perfectly with curries, dips, grilled meats, or wraps.
Ingredients
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 Tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder or 1 clove fresh garlic, minced (optional)
- Fresh parsley or cilantro, chopped, for garnish (optional)
Preparation
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, flour, Greek yogurt, baking powder, and salt until smooth. The batter should be thick but easily spreadable.
- If the batter is too thick, add 1–2 teaspoon water or yogurt to loosen slightly.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and lightly coat with olive oil.
- Spoon 2–3 Tablespoon of batter into the skillet and gently spread into a round about 1/4 inch thick.
- Cook 2–3 minutes per side until lightly golden and cooked through.
- Remove from the skillet and repeat with remaining batter.
- Garnish with fresh herbs if desired and serve warm.
Cook’s Notes
- For garlic naan, mix garlic into the batter or brush cooked naan with melted garlic butter
- Keep heat at medium to avoid browning before the center cooks
- Best served fresh, but leftovers reheat well in a dry skillet
